New Endeavor . . . ?
I have found the crafting project that my heart loves . . . yarn wall hangings! I have seen them a couple times online and at craft shows but have never found "the one" that I really wanted. So, I took matters into my own hands and created my own, in which I haven't slowed down! I started with making one for our bathroom but then kept getting other ideas and wanted to see other colors. So far I have created 4, with 4 others in the works! Granted they are not the hardest thing to make, but they are very time consuming and I think requires a good eye to match colors!
I am posting them on my website to try to sell and potentially start my own business. I am still trying to figure out what I want to do or what I can do, especially knowing we will be moving around every 3 years. It has proven difficult to find a remote position where I can do a little bit of everything and not just design work. Being a military spouse also offers its own challenges when the company wants to hire you to grow with them, but then find out you can only be there for a certain amount of time. FRUSTRATING! I think trying for my own business is going to be the way to go.
I also know I am not the only one experiencing this, and no, I am not asking for sympathy; I knew what I was signing up for. But when you throw a national pandemic into the mix, HELLO more troubles! Because of this, I am considering spotlighting a military spouse owned business every week. I think it would be cool to have a page on my website with different links to all these businesses. It would be just one more way can show support for those in the armed forces, by supporting their families. If you or anyone you know is a military spouse and has their own business, send the information my way. After all, it's not like I have anything better to do with my time right now, so why not help those like myself!
